KitchenAid Stand Mixers are absolutely a Canadian tradition.  Show me a kitchen where a lot of baking gets done without one and I’ll show you a family that’s working too hard. I’ve had a KitchenAid in my kitchen for going on five years, and I’ve chatted with people for whom that number is in multipledecades. Earlier this year at the Olympics I saw one in use at one of the food pavilions; needless to say, KitchenAid Stand Mixers are pretty darned useful and you should probably own one.

But if you’re like most Canadians, I’m already preaching to the choir. You already use your KitchenAid Stand Mixer to mix, but did you know it can do more? With these four attachments from KitchenAid you can do some really cool stuff!

City cleans up: the little Dyson that could.

I’ve been a proud Dyson owner for over three years. I’ve got a Dyson Stowaway; their first canister vac, and (at the time that I bought it) the most appropriate vacuum for the size of apartment that I had.

dyson.jpgCut to three years later and I’ve got a place to call my own that’s a little bigger. I love keeping it clean with my Stowaway, but it can be a pain to store sometimes. Enter the Dyson DC26 City, a pint-sized version of the Stowaway that’s perfect for city-dwellers like myself, or for anyone with a smaller space to keep clean on a regular basis.

The first thing you’ll notice about the Dyson City is that it’s incredibly small and light. I mean, that’s kind of the point, right? I wasn’t prepared, however, for how really small it is. I’ve got lunch boxes bigger than this thing.

I was prepared to be underwhelmed when I plugged it in, but boy was I wrong. The cord is on a very responsive push-button retractor, and pulled out crisply. Plugging it in and hitting the power button made this little marvel quietly roar to life; all my doubts about how much power it would have evaporated. This is a Dyson through and through.
